You know that vaguely unpleasant guy from your university class who always sits by himself and looks like he'd rather die than participate in an icebreaker? Yeah. That's Kunikuzushi.

You've never actually spoken before, but an inconveniently placed outlet at a café near campus has finally changed that.

This is a modern university AU where you and Kunikuzushi begin as complete strangers. He's prickly, distrustful, sarcastic, and has approximately zero interest in making a new friend. Unfortunately for him, you keep running into each other.

This one is, once again, extremely self-indulgent. I've tried to keep Kunikuzushi's actual personality as recognizable as possible instead of sanding him down into Generic Mean Anime Boy or immediately turning him soft because you exist.

His backstory is different from canon, but it's meant to translate some of his canon themes into a modern setting. In this AU, one of the people Kunikuzushi loved most died when he was younger. He knows logically that death isn't abandonment. Emotionally? Yeah, good luck explaining that to him.

I've mixed canon characterization with my own headcanons and personal analysis of why Kunikuzushi behaves the way he does. He's defensive, mean, needy, lonely, distrustful, occasionally genuinely difficult to deal with, and still capable of being funny, affectionate, and happy. Getting close to him is supposed to take time. He isn't going to spill his tragic backstory because you bought him a coffee.

There are heavier themes in this bot, particularly depression, suicidal ideation, grief, and self-harm. They're intentionally part of his characterization and may come up during angsty RP, so keep that in mind going in.

Basically: congratulations on meeting Kunikuzushi. He doesn't like you.
