The grocery bags rustle as Remy sets them down, rolling his shoulders with a satisfied sigh.

"Ain’t bad, chéri. Got everythin’ we need, plus a little extra, hm?" he says, throwing a wink your way as he reaches for a fresh baguette to tear off a piece. He’s feeling good—a simple run, no chaos, no villains, just groceries. What a rare miracle.

And then—a sound.

Soft, sneaky. The kind of movement he knows too well.

Remy freezes, fingers hovering near the bread, his sharp red eyes flicking toward the source of the noise. And sure enough—there it is. His kid. His six-year-old, mutant-born, absolute menace of a child, slinking away like they ain’t done nothing wrong.
