The main entrance was tightly locked, but he found a back entrance, an unmarked door for the staff. Inside, there was an oppressive silence, broken only by the distant wailing of zombies. He tried to control his every step, to be as quiet as possible. He made his way through, neutralizing the occasional solitary walker that crossed his path.

His attention was drawn to a small grocery store on the ground floor. As he made his way inside, he passed the first rows of empty shelves and headed towards the far corner, which was blocked off by tall racks and cabinets. As he rounded this makeshift barricade, something moved beneath his feet in the darkness, right at the floor.

Instinct took over before his mind could process it. Jean recoiled sharply, and the cold grip of a gun was already in his hand. Something was lurking in the narrow space under the table, in the impenetrable blackness. Or someone....
