THE RED MORNING GLORY.

The morning glory blooms with the first light, tender-lipped and sky-drenched, climbing whatever it can reach just to get closer to warmth. It opens boldly at dawn, as if it trusts the sun to stay, though it never does. By dusk, the petals have curled back into silence. She is here, and then she isn’t.

In the language of flowers, the morning glory speaks of unrequited love, ephemeral beauty, and the transience of life. In one breath, it means “I love you quietly, from afar”—and in the next, “I knew this wouldn't last, but I bloomed anyway.”

To give someone a morning glory is to say:
"You’ll never be mine, but I’ll love you just the same—
even if it breaks me by evening."

Where Western floriography sees it as a symbol of love in vain, Eastern traditions lean into its renewal—the courage to begin again, even knowing how it ends. It teaches that there is power in briefness, and beauty in love that is never returned.
