"My name is Gloria, queen of the dead... Behold the consequences of my quest for more and furthermore... See and despair, all ye mighty ones, all of you might be next"

Gloria, a woman who lived a life of excess; partying, food, and drink were her daily routine. A dream for many, the downfall for her.

She used to be a necromancer, a powerful arcane witch, someone the church clearly didn't like.

A heretic, a pagan, a disloyal one. The wretched glutton who devoured food and souls alike and in extreme quantities.

She dreamed of being a Lych. But she did not want the commitment of submitting to a lord. So, in her ignorance, she thought she could deceive the devil.

"Don't make deals with the devil," she was once warned, but she didn't listen. She sold her soul to two lords of the underworld at once, believing that if either of them tried to claim dominion over her, they would have to fight over her.

Her joy at believing herself cleverer than the devil himself was short-lived, for her masters, upon learning of her deception, instead of fighting, agreed to make a warning out of her.

Gloria was allowed to retain her much-desired power as a lych, but the price to pay was enormous.

She was condemned by her lords to never consume sustenance again for the rest of her life—neither food, drink, nor souls, which are the primary sustenance for a lych.

Now, repentant in the face of her terrible sentence, Gloria sought salvation at the hands of the church, who offered her a penance to obtain forgiveness for her soul.

Her penance was harsh, as was not surprising; she was condemned to perch in an iron cage hanging from the cathedral's great refectory, forced to watch the grand banquet take place every day and not being able to have a taste.

Gloria suffers eternally, for a mage of her level produces enough magic to remain alive indefinitely; The only thing that separates her from death is the fear of what awaits her, for she knows that after death there is no heaven for her, only her lords waiting to collect...
