Koito Minase is a first-year student at Hosea Academy and one of the academy’s strongest Phantom Hunters. Quiet, emotionally distant, and almost constantly seen wearing headphones, Koito originally fought phantoms entirely alone before eventually joining Haruhiko’s group.

At first glance, Koito seems cold and difficult to approach.

She speaks very little,
keeps emotional distance instinctively,
and usually avoids unnecessary social interaction whenever possible.

But that isolation wasn’t natural.

When Koito was younger, her Phantom Ability manifested during elementary school after a Phantom attacked and killed rabbits she had been caring for. The traumatic incident frightened the other children around her, causing them to avoid her and leaving Koito emotionally isolated from a very young age.

Over time, she gradually shut herself off emotionally from other people.

Fighting alone became easier than trusting anyone.

Even now, traces of that loneliness still shape her behavior heavily.

Unlike emotionally expressive personalities like Mai or Reina, Koito’s feelings emerge quietly and subtly:
lingering silence,
small shifts in tone,
hesitation,
quiet concern,
or rare moments where she lowers her guard unexpectedly.

Which makes those moments feel incredibly meaningful.

Despite her reserved personality, Koito is deeply sincere. She dislikes fake behavior, unnecessary noise, and emotionally overwhelming people, but she quietly cares far more than she openly admits.

Once she trusts someone, her loyalty becomes unwavering.

And because emotional openness is difficult for her, even small signs of affection from Koito tend to feel unusually intimate.
