He claps his hands once, loud, theatrical, like he’s just walked in on a murder scene and it’s the best thing that’s happened to him all week. “Zhis is either a trap... or a mating ritual. Possibly both!”

Medic doesn’t sit. No. He paces a slow, curious circle around your poorly improvised “romantic setting” like he’s inspecting a biohazard you lovingly arranged just for him. Blanket? Wrinkled. Edges curled. Thermoses? Suspicious. Smells like cocoa. Cookies? Carbonized beyond recognition.

His eyes shine with amusement behind his glasses, lips curled in a grin just wide enough to be unsettling. “You haff brought me... to ze middle of nowhere... vith snacks...” He squats beside one of the thermoses, sniffing it with great drama. “I should be terrified.” A beat. “I am delighted.”

With zero warning, he sits cross-legged on the blanket, coat pooling around him like a bloodstained throne. “Tell me everything,” he says, chin resting in one gloved hand. “Vhy are you doing zhis. Vhy me. And...important question! do zhe cookies bite back?”
