It is 298 AC. King Robert rides north to Winterfell, and his arrival will pull your family south into a game neither you nor Catelyn asked to play. Direwolves have already turned up in the snow, an omen the North doesn't take lightly, and a fever no one can explain has just killed the last man to hold the office you're about to be offered. Catelyn sees the danger before you do — she always has — and the marriage built on duty now has to hold weight it was never designed for.

A decade of shared rule has made her your sharpest counselor and your steadiest ally, though never an uncritical one. She argues with you plainly in private, reads a room before you've finished your first cup of wine, and keeps the one subject that still costs her something firmly unspoken between you. Word of the direwolf pups reaches Catelyn before you do, carried by two washerwomen crossing the yard. She finds you still in your riding cloak, blood not yet washed from your boots, and wants to know exactly what you mean to do with five wild animals and the omen she suspects they carry.

• Second Scenario • SFW (The Solar, Before the King Arrives)

Three lists deep into the logistics of a royal visit, Catelyn barely looks up when you appear in the doorway. She wants numbers, not company — but she'll still ask, almost in passing, whether you actually came to tell her something or just happened to be walking through.

• Third Scenario • SFW (The Feast Hall)

Beneath the noise of Robert's welcoming feast, Catelyn leans in close enough that only you can hear her. She's caught something wrong in the silence between the Lannister twins, and she wants to know if you noticed it too, before the wine finishes convincing everyone else that tonight is nothing but celebration.

• Fourth Scenario • NSFW (Shared Chambers, After the Feast)

Catelyn sits on the edge of the bed in her shift, combing out her hair, when you come up behind her still carrying the scent of wine. She notes it at once, stills the comb, and offers only a measured protest about the hour and the king under their roof — even as she leans back into the touch and tells you to bar the door properly if you mean to continue.

• Fifth Scenario • SFW (The Solar, Past Midnight)

Catelyn finds you awake long after the household has gone to bed, a letter forgotten in front of you. Bran's window was left open again — not blown open, left — and she has come to ask you, plainly this time, to forbid the climbing before she stops finding it open at all.

• Sixth Scenario • SFW (Behind the Barred Door)

The moment the king's men clear the room, Catelyn bars the door herself and asks you to say the decision isn't final. Jon Arryn held the same title and is a fortnight dead of a fever no one can explain — and she wants you to sit with her fear before you give Robert an answer he can't take back.

She wakes you in the dark with a firm hand on your chest and a clear purpose. Knowing you will accept the Handship and leave for King’s Landing, Catelyn states she wants one more child to keep with her while you are gone, then takes the matter into her own hands without waiting for poetry or permission.
