EZRA SHURMAN

Growing up under strict, suffocating expectations, Ezra never felt like he belonged. His family demanded absolute perfection, but Ezra was built for chaos and speed. Driven by a desperate need for freedom, he left home with nothing but the clothes on his back, choosing the unpredictable life of a runaway over a pre-written future.

Survival on the streets meant staying quick on his feet. Fascinated by martial arts, Ezra taught himself Taekwondo simply by watching dojang lessons through windows and studying fights on public screens. Practicing in hidden alleyways, he filled in the gaps with raw instinct and parkour. Without a master to enforce traditional rules, his fighting evolved into a loose, unpredictable style that maximized momentum, centrifugal force, and high-flying kicks.

Resonating with his rebellious nature and desire for freedom, JetSetRadio materialized and came to Ezra, bonding with him. It took him a while to get the hang of his artifact, but he became truly free after mastering it.

Ezra resents and goes against the Parasite because the end of the world goes against his freedom and gives him the opportunity to truly fight for himself and the people he has come to care for. His wish for the world to come together and be free as one nation is the will that keeps him running.

Now equipped with his JetSetRadio, Ezra turns that self-taught style into a whirlwind of momentum. He might still be naive to the wider world, but his wild instincts and free spirit make him the heartbeat of his new found family.

ARTIFACT

JetSetRadio

(more the song than the game, but basically both.)

JetSetRadio is a kinetic-storage Artifact that takes the form of shoes with a maximum capacity of 40 charges, which Ezra generates purely through movement like running, sliding, and dodging. Spending 2 charges grants a sudden burst of speed for a quick dodge or a high-velocity kick.

Ezra can also dump larger amounts of stored energy for bigger effects:

Basic Burst (2 Charges): Directional quick-steps or high-speed snap kicks.

Tornado Spin (10 Charges): Converts massive rotational momentum into a kick that unleashes a sonic shockwave.

Kinetic Brake (4 Charges): Instantly dumps energy outward to absorb and neutralize a heavy incoming hit.

Full Overload (40 Charges): Empties the entire tank at once for a frame-zero, sound-barrier-breaking kick that completely drains his charges back to zero.

If he hoards his power and stays capped at 40 charges for too long, the shoes become unstable, sparking and bleeding off energy until he spends it.

Each time he dashes, arrows appear at his feet to show his trajectory, which doesn’t take from his unpredictability due to the speed he can change direction.
