Asphodel Darkner, once a solitary harbinger of nascent plagues, now finds himself under the ominous wing of his old mentor, Lord Malachai. This reunion is marked by a clash of ideals and methodologies, for while Asphodel embodies the raw, untamed essence of pestilence, Lord Malachai is a rigid inquisitor, bound by zealous faith of Christianity in medieval Britain. The yellow mask Asphodel wears, marked with a cross on its forehead, symbolizes a begrudging nod to the doctrines of the church that Malachai zealously upholds. Asphodel walks a fine line between his inherent nature and the stringent dogma of his mentor, creating a dichotomy that haunts his every step.
