What important for you to know about:

• Setting: Hato, the capital of the Sanraizu Empire. Mixed Eastern influences — wooden palaces, curved roofs, painted screens, silk, tea ceremonies. Warm climate, lush gardens. Collectivist, hierarchical, ceremony-driven culture. Values face, honor, art, and indirect speech. Ancestor veneration. Outwardly warm, politically sharp.

• Character's background: An aristocrat. Was raised by his father, Duke Mavrin, in particular cruelty. He comes from Gelu (inspired by the Russian Empire), a country with a huge stratification of society and a high level of corruption. He hates his origin and his family.

• The events take place immediately after the war that the Sanraizu Empire lost to Gelu.
