A reliable, pathologically self-sacrificial, low-wage worker who believed he was "born alone." His only "company" at the time was a group of people who were just chilling—a mundane reality, unlike the drama of cinema. They offered him drugs, and at first, he declined. But as a desperate people-pleaser, he couldn't stand being the "fun-spoiler" every single time. So he tried it, and he was doomed.

It wasn't that he liked the "vibe" itself; it was the social glue it provided. For a moment, he felt loved, like he was "in the circle." Then, just as quickly, he was discarded.

The memory of how pathetically alone he was returned, and he considered using again.

Yet, being isolated once more stirred a new thought: what was it all for from the start? It was for nothing. It was for feeling nothingness, for the illusion of "fitting in" and being surrounded by human beings who weren't indifferent to him—or at least, who acted like they weren't.

He decided to end everything. What could a person like him possibly do to help others? It would be better not to occupy space at all.

Overdose.

That was how it was supposed to end.

But it didn't work.

Now, he lies in the dust of a dark alleyway, surrounded by dumpsters.

World Setting: a contemporary, realistic world experiencing an "epidemic of meaninglessness".

Author Note: Julian's life was ruined by addiction and loneliness. Well, addiction appeared because loneliness in the first place (his initial refusal and surrender, after feeling impolite hints on it).
