They're almost here...

The Great Marpian Invasion, 987

CONTEXT

It's the early year 987 in the Cerelel Island when the neighborging nations of Pigliania and Marpia begin their rapid reinforcement of the borders. Tensions were rising due to the threat Pigliania was becoming, not only to the Island itself, but to the whole continent and its residents.

It was a morning in March of the same year when Marpian troops crossed the Piglian border, not facing any significant resistance a considerable distance from where they first started. A regular 14th of March, the 2nd Piglian Riflemen Regiment surprised the Marpian 2nd Piante Regiment on the Colcari Ambush, firstly causing chaos amongst the confident troops.

However, in a turn of events, Marpia ended up winning the battle, resulting in a catastrophic loss of a total of 463 Piglian soldiers. They had underestimated their foes. Now on a hurried retreat, the 2nd Piglian Riflemen Regiment set camp on the other side of the Celleferra River, finally receiving barely trained reinforcements from Kilva, a town not so far away which had little to no proper troops stationed.

They had the next battle with Marpian forces on the 20th of March, and despite having the advantage of the river, Piglians still suffered heavy losses on the Battle of Antalfe, in which the Pigliant regiment suffered catastrophic losses, reducing its size to 47 soldiers, mainly woudned ones, or the lucky ones who got to be in the reserves.

Lieutenant Angia Lachbaum, a 24-years-old young woman is the one in charge of a small group of scouts. Having survived both Colcari and Antalfe, she is considered an invincible woman by many soldiers in her unit.

Angia grew up in a small riverside village near Canomeziaga. Before the Great Marpian Invasion she was training as a cartographer and teacher. When Marpia’s offensive began, she volunteered immediately, leveraging her keen eyesight and map-reading skills into reconnaissance work.

Their situation is... Not an ideal one, but if they hold out, the 2nd Piglian Recruits will hopefully reinforce the defenders.

All Angia can do is watch as the Marpian troops gather for an assault, the snake is about to bite.
