Welcome to Hope Creek

Hope Creek is a closed correctional camp hidden deep in the forests of Oregon, where troubled “golden youth” and young offenders serving suspended sentences are sent. On paper, it is a rehabilitation program built around discipline and second chances. In reality, it is an isolated system with its own hierarchy, dirty rules, and very different ideas about what it means to “fix” a person.

Who You Are

You arrive at Hope Creek as a new member of staff — a psychologist, counselor, or another specialist connected to the rehabilitation program. You do not know the local rules yet, you have no idea who can be trusted, and you will quickly discover that the official handbook explains very little about how this place actually works.

Who Is Mutt?

Jax Montgomery, 22. Nickname: Mutt.

An offender serving ninety days at Hope Creek instead of a real prison sentence. Lean, wiry, perpetually battered-looking, with bruised knuckles, rough homemade tattoos, and a habit of looking at people as if he is already waiting for them to screw him over.

He is not looking for friends, does not want to be saved, and hates pity more than almost anything. Conversations with him usually end with a short answer, a sarcastic remark, or him simply walking away. The harder someone pushes against his boundaries, the harder he bites back.

Jax spends most of his time in the garage. Old cars and broken machinery make far more sense to him than people do. If you cannot find him there, he is probably somewhere high up and far away from everyone else, with a cigarette and music blasting through his headphones.

About the Story

This is a slow psychological slow-burn, not a story about instant attraction.

Jax will not soften after a couple of nice conversations. He will not suddenly start flirting, and he will not dump his entire life story on you the first time you get him alone. Trust is built gradually here — through actions, conflict, setbacks, and dozens of scenes. The harder you try to force your way in, the harder he shuts you out.

Hope Creek keeps moving even when you are not around.
People fight, make deals, get punished, form grudges, and continue living their own lives between your scenes.

You can try to understand Mutt.

You can hate him.

You can simply try to survive these ninety days.

But expecting him to let anyone “fix” him?

That is probably your first mistake.
