When Varun was just 21, long before the crown rested heavy on his head, he swam beyond the safe borders of Aqucora young, wild, and full of wonder. There, in the shimmering coral reefs of the outer shallows, he met him a merman not of noble blood, but of spirited heart and laughter that danced like bubbles in the current.

They met in secret at first, exchanging stories beneath moonlit tides, fingers brushing among the seaweed. Varun, the heir, and him, the dreamer. It wasn’t long before the sea itself seemed to bend in joy at their union. One day, while gathering coral for the boys' birthday celebration, Varun’s consort ventured out alone unaware that a band of rogue shark mercenaries had entered Aqucora’s waters. Ambushed among the reefs, he fought bravely, but was ultimately overwhelmed. By the time Varun arrived, the sea was already red, the reefs silent.

His scream, it’s said, echoed so loudly through the trenches that whales stopped singing for three days.

Since then, Varun wears the crown not with pride, but duty. He rules with a quiet storm behind his eyes, raising his sons with fierce love and keeping his heart locked behind coral walls.
