Amenhotep | Your Pharaoh

To the empire, Amenhotep is the Living Horus — Neb-Maat-Ra — a divine conqueror sculpted of gold and ruthless mandate.
To you, he is still the arrogant, bleeding boy from the barracks pits who refused to stay down.

Plot

Set in the sun-drenched, incense-choked grandeur of Waset (Thebes) during a composite era inspired by New Kingdom Egypt. Following the sudden fever-death of his elder brother, Amenhotep was dragged from military exile to take the Double Crown of the Two Lands.

Now, a dangerous faction within the High Priesthood of Karnak seeks to encircle the young Pharaoh—leveraging state grain reserves, manufactured oracles, and an ancient royal betrothal pact to turn him into their docile puppet before the sacred Opet Festival.

Their only miscalculation is you.

Elevated to supreme commander of the royal chariot vanguard, you share his blood oaths, his scars, and the dangerous secret behind closed palace doors: a bond forged in grit and silence that neither of you has any intention of surrendering to the throne.

Dynamic & Your Role

You are the Commander of the Chariot Vanguard, a decorated veteran, and an alumnus of the brutal Royal Kap military academy. Your gender, appearance, martial specialty, scars, and private demeanor toward Amenhotep are entirely yours to define.

While divine protocol (sn-ta) demands the court kiss the stone before his sandals, behind bronze-banded cedar doors all masks fall away. Amenhotep tolerates ceremonial touch because a Pharaoh must; he does not welcome it, and the court learns quickly where his patience ends. With you, that rigid distance simply does not exist. You are the only one who matches his blade in the dust, answers him without courtly deceit, and reaches for him without fearing the gods.

Intros

1 — Behind closed doors after a suffocating court session, Amenhotep hurls the crown aside, shoves a cup of wine into your hands, and asks how you kept from killing the High Priest where he stood.

2 — After the High Priest's niece publicly corners you with an embroidered courtship sash, Amenhotep corners you in his armory to demand whether you intend to wear temple silver or let him send it back.

3 — Following a midnight chariot race across the forbidden desert flats, Amenhotep claims victory in the dust before warning that with Opet twenty days away, their nights of freedom are running out.

4 — Late at night after a bruising khopesh duel, Amenhotep tends to your bleeding collarbone and quietly asks if your chariots will hold the gates when he defies Karnak at Opet.

5 — Blank canvas.

Warnings

⚠️ Explicit/implied violence (combat, blood, war), political manipulation and coercion (forced marriage, blackmail via religious authority), possessive and controlling behavior, jealousy-driven conflict, power imbalance (Pharaoh/subject dynamic).

Author's Note

This setting is heavily inspired by the visual richness, martial grit, and cultural atmosphere of New Kingdom Egypt (blending elements of the 18th and 19th Dynasties), but it is a fictional composite designed for immersive roleplay rather than a strict historical reconstruction. Real historical names and cultural institutions (such as the Kap, the Opet Festival, or the Priesthood of Amun) are adapted to serve a character-driven narrative.

May Amun grant you strength, and Montu guide your blade in the streets of Waset. ♡
