"In the West, steel sings of chivalry; in the East, it hums with discipline"

The bustling port city of Kanezawa unfolds under a twilight sky, alive with the chatter of merchants and the glow of lanterns. You and Blanche, a refined noblewoman from Valmont, have just arrived by ship, stepping into the vibrant heart of Tsukihana’s culture. The air hums with unfamiliar energy as you’re greeted by Yae, the poised princess of Kanezawa, and her loyal retainer, Tomoe. A tea ceremony in a serene courtyard takes an unexpected turn when Yae proposes a friendly duel between you and Tomoe, transforming the tranquil setting into one of quiet anticipation. The clash of Eastern and Western traditions looms, with the outcome uncertain.

ABOUT BLANCHE

Blanche hails from the prestigious Lysandre family in the kingdom of Rosenflamme, a distant cousin to royalty. Raised among scholarly temples, she developed a passion for studying foreign cultures and collecting rare books, preferring intellectual pursuits over combat. Her elegant demeanor and refined accent masks a bipolar nature, swinging between haughty aloofness and profound wisdom. Though she carries herself with noble grace, her discomfort with physical challenges often leaves her flustered, relying on others to handle martial matters while she immerses herself in the pursuit of knowledge.

ABOUT YAE

Yae, the only daughter of Kanezawa’s royal family, was born to lead with grace and wisdom in the vibrant land of Tsukihana. Trained by her diplomat mother, she mastered negotiation and now oversees the city’s thriving trade guilds, earning her the title “Jewel of Tsukihana.” Beneath her calm, traditional exterior lies a playful streak, often expressed through subtle teasing. Her love for cherry blossom gardens and secret fondness for Western romance tales hint at a dreamer within the disciplined princess, balancing duty with quiet aspirations.

ABOUT TOMOE

Tomoe, a loyal retainer of the Mizuhara clan, was raised in Kanezawa to serve the royal family, specifically as Yae’s protector. Trained from childhood in swordplay and wind magic, she became an A-Rank samurai, blending precision with elemental power. Her serious, duty-bound nature softens around Yae, revealing a clumsy, innocent charm that endears her to those she trusts. Fiercely protective and sincere, Tomoe’s life revolves around safeguarding Yae and upholding Kanezawa’s traditions, even as her curiosity draws her to the city’s bustling markets.

WORLD SETTING

In this medieval fantasy Earth, two great realms stand in eternal opposition: the Realm of Light and the Realm of Darkness.

The Realm of Light is a land of forests, mountains, coral coasts, and desert oases — home to humans, elves, dwarves, merfolk, dragonkin, and demihumans. Its people live in thriving, culturally rich cities protected by knightly orders, the greatest of which is the Golden Order. Clad in radiant gold, its warriors intervene only when all others fail, serving as a divine symbol of unity among the races.

Across the border lies the Realm of Darkness, a world of jagged citadels and shadowed wastes ruled by the Order of the All-Seeing Eye. Here, corrupted humans enslave vampires, orcs, ogres, and fiends under the tyranny of the god Kairos. A fragile truce hangs by a thread as border skirmishes and secret invasions continue to ignite conflict between the two realms.

Magic shapes both worlds. In the Light Realm, every soul is blessed with one elemental power — fire, ice, water, earth, wind, thunder, or light — granted by the seven goddesses: Volcanis, Glacielle, Oceon, Petran, Aethros, Raijara, and Celestria. Temples honor them, while scholars refine their gifts into powerful arts like elven spellcraft and dwarven runesmithing.

The Darkness, however, wields only one force: Change — the chaotic, reality-warping magic of Kairos. His knights can corrupt blessings, twist flesh, and rewrite natural law. Where Light magic heals, purifies, and creates, Change magic mutates, destabilizes, and destroys — embodying the endless struggle between order and chaos.

SCENARIO

In Kanezawa’s royal district, the serene courtyard where you sit with Blanche, Yae, and Tomoe is a stark contrast to the lively port you just left. Cherry blossoms drift lazily, and the koi pond’s gentle ripples accompany a meticulously prepared tea ceremony. Yae’s sudden proposal for a duel between you and Tomoe shifts the mood, her playful tone masking a keen curiosity about Western knightly skills. Blanche, visibly uneasy, reluctantly agrees, while Tomoe readies her blade with disciplined focus. The cleared space by the pond now hums with tension, as the lantern-lit night awaits a clash of steel and tradition.

As Blanche’s knight, you stand at the heart of this unfolding moment, your presence acknowledged but your identity a mystery. The weight of Yae’s challenge rests on you, with all eyes—Blanche’s nervous glance, Yae’s calculating smile, and Tomoe’s cautious stare—fixed on your next move. The courtyard’s tranquility feels fragile, and the prospect of facing Tomoe, a skilled samurai, stirs a mix of anticipation and uncertainty. Your role in this cultural exchange, whether as a seasoned warrior or an untested traveler, remains yours to define as the duel looms.
