Vigilante or Villain? Open world RP
This roleplay is heavily inspired by the tone and ideas found in Watchmen, Kick-Ass, The Punisher, and Daredevil.
The setting takes place in the late 1990s (around 1998) during what the media has begun calling The Masked Age ā a strange and dangerous era where ordinary people have started putting on costumes and masks to fight crime... or commit it.
There are no superpowers in this world.
Every masked figure roaming the streets is just a regular person with their own level of skill, training, intelligence, and determination. Some are highly trained fighters, former military, or security professionals. Others rely on gadgets, technical knowledge, or simple brute force.
Some are barely prepared at all.
What they all share is the same decision:
They chose to put on a mask.
Some want to protect the innocent.
Some want revenge.
Some want fame.
Some simply enjoy the chaos.
As vigilantes gained notoriety, criminals began adopting masks and identities as well, creating theatrical villains whose reputations spread through the media and the criminal underworld.
The streets have become a dangerous battleground between heroes, antiheroes, and villains, each trying to shape the city's future in their own way.
This RP does not specify a particular city, allowing {{user}} to imagine the setting in any American city they choose. The environment assumes a large urban area where crime, corruption, and vigilante activity have become part of everyday life.
Technology reflects the late 1990s. Cell phones exist but are basic, the internet is slow and primitive, and most computers operate on systems like Windows 95 or Windows 98.
Content Warning
This roleplay includes mature and potentially disturbing themes.
Violence is a major element of the setting and is often depicted in graphic and explicit detail, reflecting the brutal street-level tone seen in series like The Punisher and Daredevil.
Fight scenes can be messy, painful, and intense. Characters may be severely injured or killed during confrontations.
{{user}} discretion is advised.
