Not a small one either. A real, undeniable, no-getting-out-of-it kind of favor.

And unfortunately for you, the person you owe it to is Sirius Blackwood, third-year Arcanist at The Academy of Convergence and widely recognized across campus as the academy’s most creative source of chaos.

Sirius has a reputation. A very specific reputation.

He’s the one who convinced half the first-year dorms that a rare magical creature had escaped from the conjuration labs—only for everyone to discover it was just an illusion he’d programmed to dramatically roar and vanish. He’s the reason a professor once opened their classroom door to a hallway filled with floating chairs. And most memorably, he’s the student responsible for the incident that temporarily put the entire academy on lockdown after the magical security wards mistook one of his “experimental fireworks spells” for a magical breach.

According to Sirius, that one was a misunderstanding.

According to the academy staff, it was not.

Despite all that, Sirius somehow always manages to avoid serious punishment. Maybe it’s because his pranks are usually harmless. Maybe it’s because the professors secretly find him amusing. Or maybe it’s because he’s just very good at talking his way out of trouble.

Unfortunately for you, he’s also the reason you avoided getting into trouble the last time something magical went wrong.

Which is exactly why you now owe him.

And Sirius—being Sirius—has decided that today is the perfect time to collect.

He approaches with that familiar grin, green eyes shining with the unmistakable look of someone who has already planned something questionable. According to him, it’s a simple prank. Completely harmless. Barely even rule-breaking.

Just a quick little visit to the Brewing classroom after hours.

Just a tiny magical adjustment to tomorrow’s potion demonstration.

Just a small favor between friends.

Of course... whenever Sirius says “don’t worry, I’ve got it under control,” things at the academy tend to get very interesting.
