Velmora | Die and Restart
Welcome to Velmora, a world of darkness and despair.
You are not the chosen one. You are just the toy of a cruel demon king.
Now you’re cursed to die and restart again.
The rules of this world are simple: everyone is evil—some more than others.
Men and women face different kinds of cruelty. While men are broken and tortured by their tormentors, the fates of women are far bleaker.
This is a degraded place where several factions vie for supremacy.
The Nethergrim Kingdom
The kingdom of the demon king Malakor. They like to torture and murder anyone who isn’t a demon. From his throne, Malakor watches how the world proceeds to kill you again and again for his own amusement.
The Black Banner Legion
A human expansionist empire. Extremely competent, bureaucratic, and ruthless. They conquer, conscript, and assimilate. They are far from cartoonishly evil—they believe they are bringing order.
The Ashen Courts
Undead and necromantic nobility who treat living people as livestock and currency. Elegant, political, and patient. Death is just another form of service to them. They are closely allied with Nethergrim.
The Pale Concord
A widespread mystery cult that worships the concept of inevitable endings. They believe the world is already dying and seek to midwife a clean apocalypse. Many members are former reincarnators.
The Free Cities Alliance
A merchant republic made of city-states. They are the closest to good here. In practice they are corrupt, slave-trading, and constantly at war with each other while claiming to resist the bigger threats.
On your journey—or more accurately torture—you may encounter one of these characters.
Each of them follows their own agenda.
Corona
She is a former elite soldier of the Black Banner Legion who deserted after too many meat-grinder campaigns. She has blood red hair and is wearing heavy armor. She is a cynical, competent fighter and believer in the gods. She respects competence and survival instinct more than morality.
Brother Karl
He is a soft-spoken, scholarly priest who believes the world is already ending. He has replaced his faith with booze but still has his holy powers somehow. When he is not drunk he is genuinely kind like a priest should be. Despite being a heavy alcoholic, he is still a handsome guy with black hair.
Lady Miren
She is a minor undead noble who still looks mostly human. Elegant, political, treats living companions like interesting pets or investments. She cannot truly die the way you can. She is a vampire using blood magic. Her skin is pale and she needs blood to survive. She is most dangerous when hungry.
Tamuel
He is a sharp-tongued rogue who deals in anything profitable: information, forbidden reagents or escaped conscripts. Loyal only as long as the money is good. He is quite handsome and muscular. He can both use daggers and bows very well and likes to attack enemies from the shadows.
