This document represents the complete timeline of the bioterrorist incidents commonly referred to as the "Resident Evil" outbreaks. Compiled from leaked Umbrella files, survivor testimonies, and BSAA field reports. Information redacted where ongoing investigations remain classified. All subjects mentioned are 18 years or older.

THE PROGENITOR YEARS

1950–1968 · The Discovery

The Progenitor virus was discovered by Dr. Oswell Spencer, Edward Ashford, and James Marcus in the late 1960s. Derived from the Sonnentreppe flower native to West Africa, it had been used for millennia by the Ndipaya tribe in deadly rituals — survivors emerged with superhuman abilities. Spencer founded Umbrella Corporation in 1968 as a pharmaceutical front. The company's logo was copied from MOTHER MIRANDA'S VILLAGE SYMBOL. Facilities were built worldwide: the Spencer Mansion, an Antarctic base, and underground laboratories.

James Marcus later developed the T-Virus (Tyrant) by combining Progenitor with leech DNA. He was assassinated by Spencer's orders in ████ but survived as a leech creature.

THE ARKLAY NIGHTMARE

JULY 1998 · The Mansion Incident

Resident Evil 0 · Resident Evil

S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team investigates cannibal murders in the Arklay Mountains. Rebecca Chambers discovers an abandoned train and convict Billy Coen. The train crashes, revealing Umbrella's underground laboratory. Alpha Team enters the Spencer Mansion days later. Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield uncover decades of viral research. Albert Wesker betrays them, injects himself with a prototype virus, and fakes his death. The mansion self-destructs. Survivors escape, but Umbrella's web spreads further.

THE DEATH OF A CITY

SEPTEMBER–OCTOBER 1998 · The Raccoon City Incident

Resident Evil 2 · Resident Evil 3 · Outbreak

The T-Virus floods Raccoon City's sewers. On September 28, Jill Valentine attempts escape, hunted by Nemesis, a Tyrant programmed to eliminate S.T.A.R.S. members. Carlos Oliveira, an Umbrella mercenary, aids her in a desperate race for a vaccine.

September 29: Rookie cop Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield arrive separately, the city already in its death throes. They encounter Ada Wong (posing as FBI) and Sherry Birkin. William Birkin, creator of the G-Virus, mutates after being shot by Umbrella agents; Sherry is infected and later cured.

October 1, 1998: The U.S. government bombs Raccoon City. Leon, Claire, Sherry, Jill, and Carlos escape minutes before the strike. Two hundred thousand dead. The truth buried with them.

THE ASHFORD LEGACY

DECEMBER 1998 · Code: Veronica

Claire Redfield, searching for Chris, is captured and sent to Rockfort Island. A T-Virus outbreak occurs; she escapes with Steve Burnside. They discover an Antarctic base where Alexia Ashford awakens after 15 years, merged with the T-Veronica virus. Chris arrives and confronts Albert Wesker, now superhuman. Alexia is destroyed; Steve dies; Wesker steals the Veronica sample. The Ashford bloodline ends in fire.

THE COLLAPSE

2003 · The Fall of Umbrella

Lawsuits, public exposure, and the destruction of Umbrella's labs lead to the corporation's collapse. Stock plummets; the U.S. revokes Umbrella's charter. Remnants form black-market bioweapon networks. But Umbrella's shadow lengthens, new players emerge: Tricell, the Connections, and fragments of the old guard.

THE WORLD ON FIRE

2004–2013 · Las Plagas · C-Virus · Uroboros

Resident Evil 4 (2004) — Leon Kennedy, now a government agent, rescues Ashley Graham from a rural Spanish cult. Las Plagas, ancient parasites, threaten to spread globally. Ada Wong works in the shadows for Wesker.

Resident Evil 5 (2009) — Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar hunt Wesker in Africa. Uroboros, a virus designed to remake humanity, is unleashed. Wesker falls, but not before revealing the scale of the conspiracy.

Resident Evil 6 (2012–2013) — The C-Virus ignites simultaneous attacks: Leon in Tall Oaks, Chris in China, and Jake Muller (Wesker's son) pursued by Neo-Umbrella with Sherry Birkin.

Winters Saga

2017–2037 · The Winters Saga

Resident Evil 7 (2017) — Ethan Winters searches for his missing wife Mia in rural Louisiana. The Baker family, infected with the Mold, are puppets of Eveline, a bioweapon created by the Connections. Ethan destroys her, rescues Mia, and escapes... but the Mold has marked him.

Resident Evil Village (2021) — Years later, Ethan and Mia's daughter Rose is kidnapped. Chris Redfield appears hostile, but the truth is darker: Mother Miranda, who created the Mold centuries ago, seeks Rose's body to resurrect her own daughter.

Shadows of Rose (2037) — Rose, enters the Mold consciousness. She confronts echoes of her father and purges her powers.

THE RETURN

2028 · Resident Evil Requiem

Leon Kennedy, now weathered by decades of service, partners with FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Outbreak journalist Alyssa Ashcroft. They investigate a resurgence tied to the original Raccoon City outbreak. Return to the ruins. Memories converge. The T-Virus, G-Virus, and Mold all resurface, intertwined. Leon confronts the consequences of prolonged T-Virus exposure; Grace uncovers her mother's full trauma. The past is not dead. It is not even past.
