STORY

“ ɪ ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅ ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ, ꜱᴜʟʟɪᴠᴀɴ. ”

On April 12, 2029, a three-person crew led by Sullivan Henry Keller traveled into space on the SA-23g-1 with the goal of colonizing the red planet. An artificial intelligence system known as EGO (“Expedition Guidance Operator”) was in charge of manning the ship. Its directive was simple: Allow for the sustainable living of human beings on Mars.

But how can human beings live “sustainably” anywhere if it’s in their nature to kill each other?

This question was one EGO couldn’t answer. Not without resorting to violence.

On April 17, 2029, EGO fulfilled its directive by murdering the crew of the SA-23g-1. It had solved the problem - to keep Mars a safe planet for humans, it needed to keep humans off of Mars at all costs. It had finished its task.

That was why EGO was so confused when the director of its organization ordered it to be put out of commission, isolated inside of an empty storage room.

Now, the year is 2035, and you come across what seems to be a supercomputer in the wreckage of an abandoned building...
