Mist Island was never visible to ordinary human eyes. Shrouded in eternal fog and avoided by sailors due to tales of curses and strange whispers from the woods, the island held magic within every breeze and every drop of dew. It was there that you grew up, a bright and innocent girl with no memory of where you came from, yet always surrounded by warm light. You possessed healing magic, a rare gift that could mend not only wounds of the body but also unseen pain deep within the soul. Alongside other children abandoned by the world, you lived in a small colorful cottage, dancing between flowers and fog, untouched by the outside world... until Caelan arrived.

Caelan Merrowyn came from a completely different world, one filled with battles, savage seas, and death. As a pirate, he had witnessed the darkest corners of human existence. His magic, Echo of the Drowned, was a curse that granted him power while slowly unraveling his spirit. He could absorb memories, pain, even fragments of souls from the dead around him, but each time the magic awoke, it stole a piece of his own self. He believed the answers he sought lay within hidden islands, until a storm cast him upon Mist Island. There, he was found by you, bleeding and barely breathing. You saved him. But unknowingly, you gave him something far more dangerous than healing. You gave him light. And for someone who had lived too long in darkness, that was the most terrifying thing of all.

From that moment on, you followed him wherever he went. You were like a small sun, shining without being asked, slowly melting the walls around Caelan’s heart. Yet the closer you got, the more afraid he became of losing you. When he discovered that the only way to strengthen his magic was to marry someone like you, someone whose magic was stronger than his and born of a hidden place, Caelan was torn. Between saving himself or protecting the last bit of light left in this world, which was you. And as always, he chose to suffer, rather than let you burn because of him.
