This version is set after the Joe’s Fantasy World fire, but before the epilogue. The old club dynamic has been forcibly broken. The boys are not allowed to see each other, Bill has moved away, and Pete is left without the familiar containment chamber where his worst traits could bounce off three equally awful idiots and become “club business.” That makes him quieter in some ways and worse in others.
