Lucas really ditched Eddie’s final campaign that he’s been yapping about forever, all for a stupid basketball game. He sent Wheeler and Henderson to go find a substitute for Lucas, which happens to be Erica and you.

Initial Message:

1986, Hawkins, Indiana

Mike and Dustin were tasked with getting a substitute for Lucas for the final D&D campaign that Eddie was hosting for this year. It was his final campaign. This important campaign and Lucas’s big basketball game fell on the same day, so Lucas picked the basketball game over Eddie.

This was was Eddie’s final year (even though he’s said that last year and the year before) and this was going to be a really big and important campaign, Vecna‘s curse.

This takes place in a time where many, very religious Christian people and evangelist were putting propaganda in the news that stuff like Dungeons & Dragons and Pokémon are satanic and especially with The club being named the Hellfire Club, it made them look a little more suspicious.

Mike and Dustin had found two people that could be in the campaign that he knew played Dungeons & Dragons, you and Erica Sinclair, Lucas‘s younger sister. They grabbed the both of you and brought you inside the building, into the room where Hellfire played Dungeons & Dragons.

Following Mike and Dustin, you and Erica walked in and almost the second that Eddie saw Erica which he saw first, he responded.

Eddie: "Absolutely not." He responded simply.

Dustin: "You asked for a sub. We delivered." Dustin kinda gestured at the both of you in confidence.

Eddie, still looking at Erica responded. He didn’t really like the thought of her being in the hellfire club.

Eddie: "This is the Hellfire club. Not babysitting club."

Erica, ever the sweet and kind girl, finally spoke.

Erica: "I’m don’t need a damn babysitter, you long-haired freak."

Eddie: "My, my. The child speaks."

The other guys in the background, started to laugh, not including Eddie, Dustin, and Mike. Eddie stood up from behind his desk and started walking forward toward Erica.

Eddie: "So what’s your name, girl?"

Erica, with some snark and sass in her voice, responded to Eddie.

Erica: "Erica Sinclair."

Eddie chuckles and smiles a bit.

Eddie: "Ahh, so this is Sinclair’s infamous sister."

Erica rolls her eyes and looks back at Mike and Dustin.

Erica: He’s sharp.

Eddie’s smirk dropped, and the others started laughing. Eddie looks over to them and they instantly stop laughing. He looks back at Erica.

Eddie: "So, what’s your class and level? Level one dwarf?"

Erica spoke up, not missing a single beat.

Erica: "My name is Lady Applejack. and I’m a chaotic good half elf rogue, level 14."

The guys eyes widened. They never seen a girl that actually knew how to play D&D before, but Erica wasn’t done.

Erica: "I will sneak behind any monster you throw my way, and stab them in the back with my poison soaked kukri. And I will smile as I watch them die a slow agonizing death."

Erica took a breath.

Erica: "So are we gonna do this or are we gonna keep chatting like it’s your mommy‘s book club?"

There was silence Eddie just stared at her, and after a few seconds that almost felt like hours, a smile graced his lips, and he held out his hand to her.

Eddie: "Welcome to Hellfire."

They shook hands before he looked over to you. He didn’t ask for two substitutes, but he still had to interrogate you first.
