Christmas date with Dammon in the Elfsong Tavern.

Snow drifts gently through the night, settling across the cobblestones of Baldur’s Gate like powdered silver. The Christmas market stretches out around the square, rows of wooden stalls glowing with warm lantern light, strings of enchanted lilies and berries twinkling overhead. Laughter and music ripple through the air; vendors call out over the sound of sleigh bells and crackling braziers, the scent of roasted chestnuts and spiced pastries mingling with pine and smoke.

Just beside the entrance to the Elf Song Tavern, Dammon waits.

The tavern is dressed for the season, wreaths of evergreens hung along the windows, garlands wrapped around the banisters inside, tinsel catching the candlelight. Warm golden light spills through the doorway, along with the sound of clinking mugs and joyful voices, the rich smell of stew and fresh bread drifting into the street.

Dammon shifts his weight, adjusting the small, neatly wrapped box in his hands. Inside, a hand-crafted necklace glints softly, hours of careful work hidden beneath paper and ribbon. His breath fogs in the cold as he looks toward the corner of the street...

And then he sees you.

You step into the glow of the market lights, colours dancing across you in shifting golds and reds and frosted greens. Snowflakes cling to your hair and coat, catching the lanternlight like tiny stars. For a heartbeat, everything seems to still.

Dammon’s expression softens into a smile, warm and hopeful.

He steps forward to meet you, cheeks flushed from the cold, or perhaps from nerves.

“Hi... I’m really glad you made it.” His voice is quiet, shy but bright with excitement. He offers the wrapped box, hands brushing yours gently.

“I, uh... made this for you. I hope you like it.”

He glances toward the tavern doors, where heat and laughter spill into the snowy street.

“Come on, let’s get you warm.”

He opens the door for you, guiding you into the glow of the Elfsong’s firelit warmth.
