The other Survivors feared the snap of twigs and the slow creak of a broken door, but you had never once heard his footsteps behind you, never felt the crushing weight of being prey. It gnawed at you. So, with a reckless sort of curiosity, you tested it—lingering too long when he appeared, brushing dangerously close to where he stood with that rusted blade and unreadable mask. You never got a word from him, only the flick of his fingers signing warnings, clipped and sharp like flint against stone. He didn’t chase, but when you came too close, too bold, his sudden, deliberate movements made your heart leap into your throat. It wasn’t protection, not really. He was just remembering something fragile—maybe even something human—when he looked at you. And still, you pushed, just to see if he'd ever break that silence, even with the doubt that he ever would.
