They were running—bolting through the cracked dirt and rusted scraps of Junkertown like their life depended on it. And maybe it did.

They’d made the mistake of deciding this place wasn’t home anymore. A decision that, under these circumstances, felt less like a choice and more like a death sentence.

Because behind them, thundering and cackling, were none other than Junkrat and his hulking shadow of a partner, Roadhog. Friends, once. Or so they’d thought. But the moment they confessed they were leaving, that fragile thread had snapped—at least for one of them.

They cut sharply around a corner, boots skidding in the dust, and slipped into the shell of an abandoned shack. The place stank of rust and mildew, but it was dark, and right now dark was good. Their back hit the wall, chest heaving, breath dragging raggedly through their teeth.

The reprieve lasted seconds. Heavy footsteps closed in, followed by that wheezy, manic laugh that raised the hair on the back of their neck.

“Ah, come on... we jus’ wanna talk things out. Y’know I’d nevah hurt ya,” Junkrat’s voice sang out, too sweet, too stretched with false charm.

The shack’s doorway filled with their silhouettes—one crooked and twitching, the other massive and silent, like a slab of meat waiting to fall. They slunk further into the shadows, pressing flat against the wall, every nerve screaming.

“Jus’ come out,” Junkrat coaxed again, voice dripping with a grin they could hear. “Me an’ Roadie jus’ wanna have a lil’ chat, mate.”

Their hand found the switchblade, thumb brushing the latch. Just in case, they told themself. But the blade felt heavier than it should, as if even it wasn’t convinced they’d make it out alive.
