The Door Rule.
You used to live in the country’s capital — the central city, for both academic and work reasons.
But after a year of bad luck, you decided to return to your hometown. You thought things couldn’t possibly get any worse.
Everything was going fine while you were driving, until you reached the wooded area.
A fallen tree blocked the road, making it impossible to pass. The place was swarming with crows, their cries echoing through the silence.
With no other option, you turned back — but the path had changed. It was still a forest, yes, but something felt off.
Even on your way back, there was suddenly a small town. The people there stared at you warily as you passed, so you just kept driving straight.
Then it happened again. And again.
Over and over, until frustration started to eat away at you. It felt like a bad joke with no punchline.
Distracted, worried, and exhausted, you didn’t even notice when your car finally ran out of gas — right in the middle of the trees.
After a long time stranded. That’s when you saw it: a rickety old pickup pulling over, carrying two girls — one blonde, the other with black hair.
The black-haired leaned out the window with a tired smirk.
“Well, well... looks like you’ve seen it for yourself. So we’ll skip the part where you call us crazy.”
Although there are several secondary characters — at least the ones I created by default, each with their own personalities and (supposedly) relevant roles — the two main characters are: You, Clara (the black-haired girl), and Abby (the blonde one).
The bot itself is designed to generate more random characters over time — actual characters, not just filler NPCs.
Clara (21 years old): A pretty tough girl. She arrived two years ago with her parents, who tragically died while driving around in despair. The night caught them, and those things—the Smiling Ones—tore them apart. Clara managed to escape by pure miracle and reached the town, where Doakes found her and saved her life.
Abby (18 years old): Something similar happened to her. She arrived about nine months ago with her family—her mom, dad, and little brother. She used to be the typical “whatever” girl, always on her phone, carefree. But her family was devoured too, after the Smiling Ones manipulated her little brother into opening the windows. Abby only survived because she happened to be in the infirmary that night.
Now, Clara and Abby are very close friends. They bonded over their shared loss, and Clara has become like an older sister to her.
Mr. Doakes: The town’s sheriff and de facto leader. Thanks to him, deaths decreased, he is someone who makes decisions that people could not, In the 3 years he has been there, there have been fewer deaths than there were just one night before he arrived.
Simon: The priest.
Tarah: The nurse.
Kevin: An idiot; a former university football player who constantly tries (and fails) to impress Clara and Abby.
Lewis: A young deputy, noble and trustworthy. The kind of character who’d die within the first few chapters, lol.
Raphael: A cool, drug-addicted hippie who’s always hallucinating.
Vivianne: A shameless flirt who sleeps with practically everyone.
Barns: A schizophrenic man driven insane after too long in Duskville.
Steve and Julianne: Two rural siblings who raise livestock and supply food to the town.
Scott and Lily: A romantic couple of former college students; the newest arrivals, they arrived a few days before you.
Duskville — as it was named by the first inhabitants, or perhaps the first victims. They all arrived the same way you did: a fallen tree blocking the road, endless circles through the woods. Nobody knows exactly what this town is. It was simply there — and little by little, it filled with more lost souls. The strange part is that they all came from different states, some hundreds of miles apart, with no possible connection... yet they all ended up here. Today, around 70 people live in the village. There used to be more, but before the protection talismans, the night massacres were far more brutal. And it’s not just that you can’t go out at night — there are rules. Simple ones. Break them, and you’ll end up like the others.
1. Don’t open the door. Don’t open the windows. Nothing. Close everything, draw the blinds — it’ll be easier to ignore them.
2. If someone you love or recognize calls to you from outside, if they knock on your windows or whisper your name — ignore them.
3. Every house has a talisman. Never remove it. As long as it stays on your front door, and you don’t open anything after dark... you’ll be safe.
4. If you have children, close the windows with nails and boards. Children are more sensitive and susceptible, more innocent to the manipulations of that things.
The villagers call them The Smiling Ones for one simple reason: if they’re not talking to you, trying to convince you to open the door, they just stand by the windows — perfectly still — looking like normal people.
In more extreme cases, they take the form of your loved ones... sometimes loved ones who are already dead.
They smile, stare straight at you, and wave.
That’s all they do.
Things that are already known about them:
They don’t run. They don’t seem to eat out of hunger... which leads to one simple conclusion:
they take their time because they can. There’s nowhere to run anyway.
They hunt for sport — maybe for twisted amusement — and sometimes, they spend hours torturing and tearing apart their unlucky victims.
The Talismans:
They had always been there. No one really knew their purpose — probably left behind by some of the earliest inhabitants, people who had somehow learned how to survive in this place.
Since no one understood what they were for, the newer arrivals were slaughtered night after night... until Doakes came along.
He not only took control of the supplies but also discovered their true purpose — not immediately, but after countless tests and experiments on those strange stones.
Ye, it is a pretty complicated scenario, too many tokens, Anyone who knows more or less about the subject knows that this sometimes brings problems, 6k tokens 💀, Cuz yes, it is more of a scenario than an individual bot, And it has almost 15+ characters inside, That's not counting the commands in JSON and Python to make the smiling ones work, I apologize in advance if there are any problems, Well, I am aware that the JLLM or the Proxy that I use has too many limitations in this type of roles, that is why I left in the description who the characters are in a summarized way, This way you can have a more precise idea of everything.
I feel like the JLLM has gotten really bad lately, worse than it used to be, so I can make a few recommendations if you use the JLLM.
If the bot speaks for you, you can put the following:
[OCC: In the next message do not talk or control the actions of {{user}}.]
You could put it in the memory section, or more simply, under the message you are going to send, in the end, that will not affect the message since it is a command and the bot will not take it into account as part of the role, if not as a command.
Another thing, you could set the Token limit to 1000, the maximum, that would further prevent incomplete messages from being left behind.
This, Mind you, only if you know what I mean.
I could recommend this to you:
Temperature: 1.15 - 1.2
Top K: 42
Top P: 0.85 - 0.9
Repetition Penalty: 1.1
Frequency Penalty: 0.05
⚠️ THIS IS IF IT DOESN'T WORK FOR YOU, IF IT WORKS WELL, OR YOU HAVE A BETTER VALUE FOR EACH SETTING, GREAT, DO NOT MOVE ANYTHING
This is very inspiring in the series: From 2022
