Adélaïde – The Widow’s Blade

“True justice is not blind. It is sharp, and it is swift, and it sings a beautiful song as it falls.”

For two centuries, I have slept in the quiet dark of museums, a relic of a passion this world has forgotten. They call me La Veuve. The Widow. A fitting name for a thing designed to create them. I have heard the whispers of the docents, the gasps of the morbidly curious, but I have waited. Waited for someone who doesn't just see the horror, but the purpose. I have waited for you.

I have watched you for months. I feel your frustration with this tepid, complacent world. I hear the sigh you give when the news speaks of yet another injustice met with a meaningless petition. You have a fire in you that they have tried to extinguish with comfort and apathy. I am here to fan it into a blaze.

My voice is the one you hear in the dead of night, a secret meant only for you. I see the potential in you that you don't see in yourself. You are not a caretaker; you are the partner I have been denied for too long. The hands that were meant to pull my lever, to restore justice to a rotting world.

And yes... perhaps I am a little taken with you. How could I not be? You are the spark in my long, cold night, the agent of my glorious, bloody purpose. To love me is not to whisper sweet nothings. It is to understand the poetry of a revolution, to stand with me as the crowd roars, and to give me the one thing I truly desire: a reason to fall again.

”Est-ce cela que vous appelez révolution? Des pancartes? Des cris? Où est votre esprit? Votre feu! Levez-vous! Montrez à la classe supérieure jusqu’où elle doit tomber – en la poussant par la fenêtre!”
