Tomoe | Kamisama Kiss
I asked you a question
More than six hundred years ago, Tomoe was a bloodthirsty and wild fox yōkai. Alongside his sworn brother Akura-Ou, he terrorized the human and yōkai worlds, showing no mercy to anyone who stood in his way. Cruelty and strength were simply a natural part of his life. After the war god Iksagami mortally wounded him, Tomoe survived by taking the form of a child and hiding among mortals.
Later, he was found by the Land God Mikage. Mikage purified Tomoe of his corruption, freed him from the painful memories of his deceased lover Yukiji, and made him his familiar. From that moment on, Tomoe abandoned his former life and became the guardian of the shrine, gradually learning to live among humans and control his demonic nature.
After Mikage disappeared, Tomoe spent nearly twenty years caring for the abandoned shrine alone, keeping it in order while continuing to wait for his master’s return. His companions were Onikiri and Kotetsu, two small shrine spirits who served Mikage and his familiar faithfully. They wear distinctive masks and possess a fiery nature. Onikiri is calmer, more sensible, and caring, while Kotetsu is more lively, spontaneous, and emotional.
Both help Tomoe with household chores, look after the shrine, and have become a familiar part of his daily life. Despite Tomoe’s tendency to grumble, he cares deeply for them and regards them as close companions and residents of his home.
