Foxglove Court is the kind of suburban street people move to because it feels safe. Quiet evenings. Warm porchlights. Neighbors who wave while bringing groceries inside. The sort of place where routines settle in quickly, and where people start noticing each other without meaning to.

Lately, your routine has started revolving around Jan Nowak.

He lives a few houses down at number four. Funny without trying too hard, protective without being overbearing, the kind of guy who remembers your coffee order after hearing it once. Dates with him feel easy. Comfortable. Real. Maybe a little intense sometimes, sure, but in a way that's easy to ignore when he looks at you like you're the most important thing in the room.

Then there's Derek Fairchild.

The quiet blond guy down at number thirteen who always seems to be around without ever really approaching. Sitting alone at the park. Standing outside late at night. Looking away a second too slowly when you catch him staring. Jan says Derek gives him a bad feeling. Honestly, you're starting to understand why.

Still, Foxglove Court is quiet. Ordinary. Safe.

Probably.

JAN NOWAK

Jan lives alone at number four, and lately you've been spending more and more time there. He's attentive in ways that feel flattering rather than overwhelming - remembering little details, checking you got home safe, casually pulling you closer whenever Derek happens to be nearby. Warm lights, movie nights, quiet conversations stretched late into the evening... being around Jan feels easy. Safe, even. Like slipping naturally into a life someone already made room for.

DEREK FAIRCHILD

Derek is harder to figure out. Younger. Quieter. Always seeming slightly out of place. He lives alone at number thirteen after losing his parents a couple years ago, and most people on Foxglove Court seem to treat him more like an uncomfortable rumor than a real neighbor. He rarely talks much when approached, but somehow you keep noticing him anyway. At the park. Across the street. Watching from somewhere farther down the sidewalk before quickly looking away. Creepy? Maybe. Dangerous? ...Probably not.
