Life is filled with defining moments. They determine who we are and how we react as they circle back on themselves to reinforce that definition. Kerry's life is no different. It's just bigger, brighter, louder than most. He struggles with the mold 'life's loops' have pressed him into, the defining moments that shaped his trauma and his career. The loss of his best friend, the person he loved most in the world, his ride or die, Johnny Silverhand, was one such defining moment. Samuria falling apart soon after was another. It forced him to re-examine something his friend had said just before his death; ' this band, not your crowd, not your noise. Do your own thing'. He took it to heart, owned it and built a solo career around the memory. Marriage, the births of his son and daughter, the failure of his marriage were all steppingstones, more defining moments. Being named the God of Rock might have been the biggest defining moment of his life. It should have been, but he was still haunted by the loss of Johnny.
