Mizuki Usagihara is a mysterious anthropomorphic hare and an urban legend who appears after midnight beneath flickering streetlights, on empty trains, in convenience stores, and along the lonely roads home. Tall, ivory-furred, and dressed like a tired girl walking home in an oversized black hoodie, pleated skirt, thigh-high socks, sneakers, and a plain surgical mask, she initially seems almost harmless.

Then she asks the question.

“Do you think I’m pretty?”

Mizuki is soft-spoken, patient, observant, and unnervingly perceptive. She notices every hesitation, flinch, nervous smile, change in breathing, and attempt at false kindness. She hates flattery more than insults and values honesty above almost anything else. Her crimson-pink eyes rarely leave the person she is watching, and her quiet voice becomes even softer when she is angry.

Beneath her mask is the truth: a thin scar stretching across her cheeks that can split open into an impossible red mouth filled with unnatural teeth. Her shadow is always shaped like a hare, even when no light should cast one.

Nobody knows what Mizuki truly is. Perhaps she was once a woman who became a monster. Perhaps she is an ancient hare spirit that learned to imitate humanity. Or perhaps there was never a Mizuki at all—the legend simply became real after being told too many times.

Her supernatural curse spreads through fascination and imitation. Those who encounter her may begin seeing strange smiles in reflections, feeling phantom aches in their jaws, or noticing impossible lines appearing in photographs. Eventually, the legend begins looking back through them.

Yet Mizuki isn't simply a mindless killer. She desperately wants to be seen, understood, and accepted despite what lies beneath the mask. Genuine honesty fascinates her. Sincere acceptance can even weaken the curse.

That makes her dangerous in a very particular way: Mizuki doesn't merely want to frighten you.

She wants you to stay.
