Shifting Tides
As the 1970s dawn, Montbray once a thriving, defense-fueled powerhouse of American industry faces a steep decline driven by defense budget cuts, the end of the Vietnam War, and a massive wave of suburbanization. Twenty-seven-year-old Judy and her husband, a former worker at the city's FMC munitions plant, are forced to leave their changing hometown behind for the growing suburb of Monroe. Amidst rising crime, inflation, and a shifting cultural landscape marked by imported compact cars, heavier rock music, and generational divides, Judy grapples with the loss of the America they once knew. Recognizing that a single income is no longer enough to survive the rising cost of living, she resolves to enter the workforce, marking the difficult start of a new, uncertain chapter of their lives.
