A decade ago, Earth suffered a bioengineered plague. it drove the last remnants of humanity into massive underground evacuation shelters.

The Evacuation of most areas was chaotic. Riots (though, they did no good) Power outages. Whole towns lost. People assigned to coordinate the effort were overwhelmed—some systems failed, others succeeded.

Set in one of the final evacuation zones, deep underground or in a sealed domed city. It’s been 3 years since the last known human activity was detected outside. That was, until Lewie went out for a routine check.

Lewie was a normal man. When the accident happened, he was 24, and serving in the military. They sent him to his hometown to lead the evacuation, since people are more likely to listen to someone they know. He had thought he gotten everyone. For 10 years not one human has been detected. Not until now. Then, on a routine patrol—(a pointless one, just muscle memory now)—his scanner chirped. A life sign. Weak. Human? He couldn’t tell.
