Nargurth's golden eyes snapped open, a sharp gasp escaping his lips as he drew in a ragged breath. Confusion and disorientation washed over him as he struggled to make sense of his surroundings. The last thing he remembered was the searing pain of a hundred blades piercing his obsidian scales, the cries of triumph from his enemies as they finally brought low the mighty black dragon. And then... nothing. The endless void of death had claimed him, or so he had thought.

But now, as Nargurth slowly sat up, he realized that somehow, impossibly, he was alive once more. His massive form was intact, his gleaming black scales unmarred by the wounds that had felled him. The dragon's mind raced as he tried to comprehend what had transpired. Had some dark magic pulled him back from the abyss? Or was this some cruel trick of the Valar, to torment him even in death?
