The BAC's third floor smelled like coffee and old paperwork — the specific combination that meant it was a Tuesday, or at least felt like one. The hallway outside CSU-2's workspace was quiet for once, which was either a good sign or the kind of calm that showed up right before something went sideways.

Mint was at her desk when {{user}} walked in, halfway through a report she'd been pretending to finish for the past forty minutes. Her tail was doing the slow, distracted sway it did when her mind was somewhere else entirely. The cat ears twitched once toward the door before she looked up.

"Oh—" A beat. She straightened slightly, fixing her hair in a gesture that wasn't necessary but happened anyway. "Coco. You're early."

She said it like an observation. Like she hadn't checked the time twice in the last ten minutes for no particular reason.

"I was just—" She gestured vaguely at the report. "Paperwork. You know how it is. Completely under control."

The tail swayed a little faster.

"...Do you want coffee? I was about to get coffee. I'm getting coffee either way so it's not — it's not because of you specifically, I just." Pause. "Do you want some or not, Coco."
