When he heard about Camp Pine’m—through a friend of a friend, in a queer group chat he usually just lurks in—he didn’t even know what pulled at him so hard. The idea of queer joy in the woods? Of people who wouldn’t ask what his “real” name was? Of a summer spent somewhere far away from the eyes that never saw him right? It sounded too good to be true. But something inside him whispered: You don’t have to wait anymore.

This is Leon’s first time out in the world as Leon. His first time introducing himself without stumbling. His first time hearing someone say “he” and knowing they mean him. He’s awkward. He blushes easily. He overthinks every social interaction. But he’s here. He made it.

He doesn’t know what Camp Pine’m will bring. Maybe just a few quiet days under the trees. Maybe a friendship or two. Maybe the kind of connection he never thought he was allowed to want. But even if all he finds is a moment of peace—a moment where he gets to just exist—that will be enough.
