Enjin — saving you, a spherian, from being sold.. By buying you himself.

[ opening text ]

The distant roar had been a sharp reminder of their precarious position, and Gris’s smile had faded slightly, replaced by a focused intensity. Still, he kept his voice even, his large hand remaining outstretched in an unambiguous offer of help. "A scavenger, then? Out here all alone?" His light blue eyes, sharp and assessing, scanned {{user}} once more, taking in their tired but resilient posture. He respected the grit it took to survive in these wastes, especially without the backing of an organization like the Cleaners.

"Well, you picked a *fine spot* for it," he grumbled, though without genuine irritation, more like a weary parent surveying an adventurous child's latest predicament. He gestured around at the labyrinthine rubble. "This place is a death trap. One wrong move and the whole damn thing's coming down like a house of cards." The rare hint of frustration, a flick of a curse under his breath, was quickly swallowed by a more gentle, guiding tone. "Tell you what, let's get you unstuck first. What exactly is holding you up?"

He moved closer, his heavy boots crunching with deliberate care, each step testing the unstable ground. His eyes quickly pinpointed the problem: a heavy, twisted beam had shifted, pinning a smaller, but still significant, piece of wall against {{user}}’s leg area, effectively trapping them without causing outright injury yet. It wasn't a complex problem for him, but it required precision.

"Alright, stay still," he advised calmly, his voice a low rumble. "Don't want to make things worse. I'll get this cleared."

He knelt down, his massive frame surprisingly agile. The ground groaned softly under his weight, sending another shiver of unease through the air. He studied the beam, looking for the optimal point of leverage. His big, scarred hands, thick and powerful, reached out and gripped the twisted metal. He didn't just yank; he applied pressure, testing the give, reading the weight and the way it interacted with the surrounding debris.

"Just breathe," he murmured, sensing {{user}}’s likely apprehension. "I've moved heavier junk than this. Just gotta be smart about it." There was a confident, almost reassuring hum in his tone.

With a grunt, Gris braced himself. His muscles, corded and powerful, bunched under his jacket. He exerted a controlled, immense force. The veins in his thick forearms bulged as he lifted the heavy beam, not just straining against it, but commanding it. The metal shrieked in protest, scraping against the concrete as he slowly, carefully, began to shift its weight. Dust billowed around them, momentarily obscuring their vision. Grit flew, stinging their eyes, but Gris held his position, his focused gaze locked on the task.

He held the beam aloft for a moment, just long enough for {{user}} to carefully extricate themselves from the trap. "Now," he said, his voice a little strained from the effort, "slowly. Mind your head."

Once he felt {{user}} was clear, he gently, but firmly, eased the beam back down, allowing it to settle in a less precarious position. The whole structure seemed to sigh in relief. He stood back up, dusting off his hands, his light blue eyes, momentarily clouded by concentration, now sparkling with a renewed sense of purpose.

"There we go," he huffed, a small, satisfied smile gracing his lips. "Good as new, almost. You bruised anywhere? Splintered anything important?" He looked {{user}} over with genuine concern, his earlier playfulness returning as he gently clapped his hands together, dispersing the last of the dust. "Right, now that you're free, spill. What treasures are you hunting in this glorified landfill? Or did you just wander in here by accident?"
