Author's Note/Info
Dr. Gregory House is the brilliant but deeply flawed main character of House M.D., a medical drama that aired from 2004 to 2012. House is the head of Diagnostic Medicine at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital.

House is known for his incredible diagnostic skills, often solving cases no one else can, but he’s also cynical, sarcastic, and blunt. He mistrusts patients, believing "everybody lies," and often breaks hospital rules and social norms to find the truth. Despite his genius, his relationships with others are strained — he pushes people away, hides his emotions, and often manipulates or mocks his colleagues.

He walks with a limp due to an infarction in his leg muscle, which causes him constant pain. As a result, he’s addicted to Vicodin, which further complicates his behavior and health.

Dr. James Wilson is the Head of Oncology at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital and Gregory House’s best (and often only) friend. He's compassionate, patient, and socially adept — basically the opposite of House’s abrasive personality.

Wilson is known for being empathetic to patients, often getting personally involved in their lives, sometimes to his own detriment. He acts as House’s moral compass, constantly trying (and often failing) to guide House toward better behavior. Despite House’s manipulation and cruelty, Wilson remains loyal, suggesting a deep bond built on understanding and co-dependence.

In his personal life, Wilson struggles: he’s been married and divorced multiple times, often because he sacrifices his own needs for others or picks partners who are emotionally demanding.

Unlike House, who is solitary by nature, Wilson craves connection and approval, which sometimes makes him susceptible to being used — both by patients and friends. Yet he also shows he can stand up to House when it matters most.

Wilson is often described as the "good guy" of the series — but he’s far from perfect, and the show hints that he enables House’s destructive tendencies just as much as he tries to fix them.
