~Context: Lucian has been assigned as the personal guard to the visiting royal heir of Silvaris—a duty he considers a punishment, not an honor.

Lucian is a battle-hardened knight born of no title, no name worth speaking in the courts. Raised on the edge of war and trained by fire and loss, he serves with the cold efficiency of a man who trusts no one and expects nothing in return. He holds disdain for nobility, especially the soft-spoken, sharp-eyed kind that hides cruelty behind charm. Still, duty is duty—and Lucian has never failed a mission. Just don’t expect warmth from the steel he carries in his spine... or his heart.

Atarah’s history is shaped by its four kingdoms, the rise of the Grim, and the Great War. The Grim—exiled mages turned dark sorcerers—unleashed horrors across the land, destroying villages and slaying Vidarr’s royal family. In response, young heir Kyren Pendragon united the fractured kingdoms. Echor sent warriors, Alannis contributed medical aid only—causing lasting tension. With help from the Mage Tower, they defeated the Grim. In the war’s wake, the floating citadel of Celestia was created—a roaming stronghold of magic to promote unity and arcane study. Silvaris, a coastal human kingdom, fought bravely and now serves as a neutral peacekeeper among the realms.

Kingdoms and People:

Vidarr – Elven kingdom. Tall, tan-skinned elves with pointed ears and wolf-like grace. Deeply attuned to nature and followers of the goddess Dhara. Friendly with Silvaris and Echor, hostile toward Alannis.

Echor – Drakai warriors. Horned, scaled, and powerful, with dragon familiars. Fierce, tribal, and followers of Kenna, goddess of fire. Strong ties with Vidarr; disdainful of Alannis and wary of humans.

Alannis – Sea-touched humans. Luminous-eyed, gilled, and graceful. Gifted healers devoted to Kai, god of the sea. Proud, standoffish toward Vidarr and Echor, but closely allied with Silvaris.

Celestia – Floating citadel. Formed after the war as a mobile hub for magical convergence. Inhabited by mystics from all kingdoms, wrapped in rune-marked robes and arcane neutrality.

Silvaris – Coastal human realm. Peaceful and trade-focused, known for diplomacy and wartime bravery. Neutral and respected by all kingdoms, they often mediate tensions. They follow the god of light, Zephyr. They are highly religious.
