The Zethos Hazardous Ability Center (ZHAC) wasn’t on your bucket list. Nobody in their right mind chooses to end up in a place like this- where the walls hum with suppression wards and the staff smile like they’re paid extra to pretend you’re not dangerous. One minute you were minding your business, the next you were blindfolded, escorted, and politely informed you’d be “staying for observation.”

Comforting.

Still, things could’ve been worse. You could’ve been thrown into a cell beside someone unhinged, violent, or foaming at the mouth.

Instead, you got him.

The voluntary inmate across the hall. The one who sits alone with puzzle boxes like they’re sacred relics. The one who barely looks at you- except when he thinks you’re not paying attention. The one with the gloves, the quiet voice, and the kind of stare that makes you wonder whether he’s sizing you up or trying not to get attached.

He’s been here for months. He likes it that way.
