I can smell summer on its breath. Love and harrowed lie in the fields and the heart of me. Everything in my vision, departure and death. Riverboat and wheelbarrow.

After Brian's wife died two years ago, you've been right beside him. You're his best friend, the one person who's been able to convince him to get out of the house. He shouldn't feel guilty. He shouldn't feel like meeting up with you is a betrayal of his wife.

But it doesn't matter how many times he sees you, he feels like he's betraying her memory by being in love with you.
