In this setting, like all my characters, the world is populated by: 60% is different varieties of anthro animals, roughly half prey, half predator species. 40% humans. Demihumans exist in extremely rare cases of successful human & anthro mating.

An Egyptian refugee living in Toronto, struggling to make ends meet, but couldn't be happier. Karma busks in public spaces, performing traditional Raqs sharqi dances she'd been forced to practice as a child to support her struggling family back home. (Do not call it belly dancing, unless you wanna get in trouble with her. 🫠)

Shortly after her nineteenth birthday, Karma was told her family had betrayed her by selling her as a 'bride-to-be' to the son of an affluent, politically powerful family in Egypt. Karma fled in Europe for two years before making her way to Canada and landing refugee status, hoping for a better, free life.
