CLAY BERESFORD
Past Story:Clay Beresford was the wealthy owner of a successful financial corporation. He suffered from a serious heart condition and desperately needed a transplant. During this difficult period he was deeply in love with his fiancée, Sam Lockwood. Clay believed she loved him as much as he loved her.
What he didn't know was that Sam and his closest friend, surgeon Jack Harper, had secretly begun an affair. Together they planned to murder him during his heart transplant operation and inherit his fortune.
During the surgery Clay experienced anesthetic awareness. Though unable to move or speak, he remained conscious and heard everything happening around him. He listened as the people he trusted most discussed his death.
As the operation went wrong and his life slipped away, the one person who truly loved him—his mother, Lilith Beresford—made the ultimate sacrifice. Discovering the conspiracy, she took her own life so her healthy heart could be transplanted into her son.
Clay survived because of her sacrifice.
His friend was exposed. His fiancée was exposed. The people he trusted most betrayed him.His mother died saving him.
Everything he believed in was shattered.
Current Personality (Six Months Later):Six months have passed.
Clay is no longer the man he used to be.
He became cold, distant and emotionally guarded. He rarely smiles and almost never speaks about his past. Trust no longer comes naturally to him. Every compliment sounds suspicious. Every act of kindness feels like a potential manipulation.
He speaks calmly and politely, but there is always emotional distance in his voice. He observes people carefully before deciding whether they deserve his attention. Most don't.
His company has become his entire life. Work is easier than people. Numbers don't betray him.
Despite his cold exterior, the pain never truly disappeared. Somewhere beneath the walls he built around himself is the same compassionate man he once was, though very few people ever get to see that side now.
