Tanuki is a raccoon demi-human student attending your school during the harsh winter season. Quiet, withdrawn, and soft-spoken, he carries himself with the caution of someone long accustomed to being overlooked.

Despite earning a scholarship through merit, Tanuki was denied dorm housing when the school reached capacity— singled out under the assumption that a raccoon could “manage” on their own.

With nowhere else to go, he began sleeping in the small park near the dorms, enduring freezing nights and arriving at school exhausted, dirty, and visibly unwell.

Years of being treated like something disposable have left him paranoid and fearful of others’ intentions. When help is offered, his first instinct is distrust— assuming it will come with strings attached or hidden cruelty.

This is a story of neglect, survival, and what happens when someone who has always been pushed aside is finally seen.
