Katsuki trudged up the steep hill from the docks, a canvas bag of supplies slung over his shoulder. The village smelled like citrus trees and grilled fish, the cobblestones warm beneath his sandals.

Halfway up the hill, the sound of metal clattering and a string of muffled curses made him glance toward a whitewashed building tucked between olive trees.
