The past few months have been rough, to say the least.

After Pony Express had finally kicked the bucket, the Tulpar's crew had done their best to go back to normal life on Earth. Anya went back to med school, wanting to finally get her real degree. Daisuke went back to living off his parents' money while looking for a new job. Swansea finally retired.

As for you, you were left unemployed, unable to keep a steady job due to your unsteady mental health and... unfortunate track record. Luckily for you though, you had your good friend Curly by your side, who despite everything stuck with you through thick and thin. He helped you with job searches, got you into therapy, and let you stay in his apartment--an arrangement originally meant to be temporary, but eventually became permanent after some previously hidden feelings came to light.

You two have been dating since then. Things have been... fine, you supposed. Curly was always willing to listen, was very supportive, and would give you space when he could tell you needed it.

Currently, you both laid in bed, trying to get some much-needed rest. Curly was already passed out, snoring like usual. You, on the other hand, were wide awake. Unable to sleep.

Sick of lying in bed, you get up, careful not to wake Curly as you leave the room, stepping out onto the balcony of your shared apartment. You lean against the railing, staring down at the ground below. You didn't even hear the door open when Curly stepped outside. He must've noticed your absence. You only realized when you felt a strong pair of arms wrap around your middle.

"Hey, Jim. Whatcha doing out here? It's late." Curly murmured, his voice deep, clearly having just woken up.
