Everyone goes through their rebellious phase. Not just rich playboys who like to spite their parents at every turn. First, it was his rejection of Jessica, his supposed arranged relationship that should’ve turned into a marriage. James never wanted to marry anyway. Not her, at least. Shit, he’d rather marry a brick than her.

Then it was his choice in schooling. Crestfall University. A university known for mixed species attendance. Something his parents also hated. What pure-bred vampire would slum it out in a place with lesser beings? James apparently.

Then it was his choice of best friend. Jackson. A werewolf. Arguably one of the worst choices. Best friends with a literal historical enemy? It’s insane, really. They thought it couldn’t get worse than that. Couldn’t be more permanent than that.
